Two new bouts have been added to the UFC’s first trip to Chile.
A light heavyweight bout between prospects Dominick Reyes and Jared Cannonier, and a bantamweight contest between Henry Briones and Frankie Saenz, are the latest additions to the UFC Chile lineup. The promotion announced the news Tuesday morning.
UFC Chile, or also known as UFC Fight Night 129, is set to take place on May 19 at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. As of this report, the promotion has yet to announce a main event bout for the card.
Reyes is unbeaten as a professional fighter. The 28-year-old prospect is 8-0 in MMA, including two first-round finishes under the UFC banner. Reyes last fought in December at UFC 218 where he submitted Jeremy Kimball. Meanwhile, Cannonier will be looking to bounce back from his loss to Jan Blachowicz last December at UFC on FOX 26. The 33-year-old is 10-3 in his MMA career, including a 3-3 run in the UFC.
In the 135-pound announced bout, Henry Briones will likely be fighting for his UFC career. The Mexican fighter, who competed in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America, is currently on a three-fight losing streak, falling short to notable opposition in Douglas Andrade, Rani Yahya and former champ Cody Garbrandt. Briones’ lone win in the UFC is over Argentina’s Guido Cannetti. On the other hand, Frankie Saenz will be aiming to build off his win over Merab Dvalishvili last December at UFC Fresno. Saenz is 11-5 in his MMA career, and 4-3 in the UFC.
