Dustin Poirier vs. Joseph Duffy rescheduled for UFC 195 in January

Dustin Poirier made a wise choice.

The UFC lightweight was without an opponent last week when Joseph Duffy was forced to pull out of their main event fight with a concussion just three days out. Poirier was offered a bout with Norman Parke at UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, but turned it down.

Now, Poirier will get the bout he was supposed to have over the weekend. Poirier vs. Duffy has been rebooked for UFC 195 on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas, it was announced Wednesday on UFC Tonight.

Poirier took heat from fans and even his peers for not taking the bout with Parke, who ended up beating Reza Madadi by unanimous decision on the card. It appears now like he made the right choice, getting a rising star opponent on a pay-per-view card.

Poirier (18-4) has won two straight since moving back up to lightweight following a loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 178 in September 2014.
