Bellator 155: “Carvalho vs. Manhoef” comes to CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho, on May 20, 2016, featuring Middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho, who will make his first-ever title defense against Dutch wrecking machine Melvin “No Mercy” Manhoef in the Spike TV-televised main event.
Earlier that evening, though, two opponents who know each other well, Dave Jansen and Marcin Held, will meet in an important Lightweight contest. Jansen and Held first met in Bellator MMA’s Season 7 155-pound tournament finals, where the former took the fight via decision … and took home a big check and a title shot to boot.
There’s one other thing that Jansen and Held have in common — losing title shots to division champion Will Brooks.In fact, Held’s last fight was against Brooks in Nov. 2015 and Jansen’s most recent appearance was also against “Ill” more than one year ago.

“Southeast Portland for the most part. You know I took a little break and it was good for me. I got my beehive up and rocking again. I got out in the country in Redmond, Oregon, and I just needed to not fight. MMA isn’t everything for me.”
Usually long layoffs come not by choice, but by injury. Even though Jansen isn’t your typical fighter, one would still wonder if getting back to nature gave him a chance to heal up a bit.
