Werdum (20-5-1) won the heavyweight crown at UFC 188 in June by tapping out former champion Cain Velasquez. The two were expected to rematch in February at UFC Fight Night 82, but Velasquez was forced out of the fight due to a back injury. Miocic agreed to step in for Velasquez, but Werdum withdrew from the event due to injury. They’ll now meet at UFC 198.
Miocic (14-2) is coming off back-to-back knockout wins over Mark Hunt and Andrei Arlovski. Currently ranked second in the heavyweight division, Miocic plans to log another finish when he faces the champion in Brazil.

UFC 198 takes place at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil on May 14. The Arena da Baixada is a 40,000-seat stadium, making it the largest venue yet for the promotion in Brazil.
There have been rumors swirling that the UFC is also trying to add a bout with Anderson Silva to the card, in hopes of filling the stadium.
