Julia Budd will finally return to the Bellator cage in December.
The 34-year-old fighter, who hasn’t competed since she won the featherweight title back in March, will defend her gold in a rematch against Arlene Blencowe in Tackerville on Dec. 1, the promotion announced Friday.
Bellator 189 will be co-headlined by Rafael Lovato Jr. vs. Chris Honeycutt.
Budd (10-2) won the Bellator 145-pound championship with fourth-round TKO victory over Marloes Coenen in March, improving to 4-0 under the promotion’s banner.
One of Budd’s wins was a majority decision against Blencowe (10-6) in Oct. 2016. The challenger went back to the winning column months later, scoring a pair of wins outside of Bellator before returning to the promotion with a split decision win over Sinead Kavanagh in August.
Lovato Jr. (6-0) scored back-to-back first-round finishes in his two appearances in Bellator, including a 13-second knockout in his promotional debut. Honeycutt (10-1, 1 no-contest) won his last four, including a second-round victory over Kevin Casey.
