Felice Herrig shows off her impressive fight camp transformation leading into UFC Fight Night: “Oklahoma”

46 0

The always scrappy Felice Herrig returns to the Octagon this Sunday at UFC Fight Night 112, taking on the undefeated Justine Kish. But that undefeated record only features six fights. Herrig is a longtime veteran of the sport with a 12-6 record that spans back to 2009. She’s currently on a two fight win streak that includes a win over the highly touted Alexa Grasso.

Felice has never been shy to flaunt her good looks on social media, but leading up to her fight in Oklahoma she did things a bit differently. This time she shared a before and after comparison photo, and the improvement is startling. Not that she looked out of shape in the before image, but the after photo really underscores the hard work and dedication to training she went through over her 11 week camp.

Perhaps she’s hoping that insight will lead to a little more respect from MMA fans, many of whom have been willing to dismiss her as a fighter because of how she flaunts her femininity.

“It’s a shame that people abuse it and treat you like you’re not a person,” she recently told MMA Junkie’s Steven Marrocco. “Because if people actually knew, I’ve cried over things people have said and the way people have treated me in the past. And that’s why I don’t give myself as much as I used to, because it’s like, for what? You’re giving a piece of your soul, and they don’t always appreciate it. So sometimes, it’s like, why waste the energy?”

A few more wins in the UFC, and she may finally get the kind of attention she’s looking for — a higher spot in the women’s flyweight rankings, and a place in discussions about title contention.
