Fight to Win Pro 57 results and highlights – Terra dominates in main event

29 0

Caio Terra, Cassio Werneck, and Pati Fontes were among the victors in San Jose.

Caio Terra put on a grappling clinic in the main event of Fight to Win Pro 57. The multiple-time world champion showed the world why he was considered a clear favorite heading into his main event bout against Marcelo Cohen. Along with Terra’s performance, there were a number of great matchups presented to the San Jose crowd.

In the main event, Terra kept Cohen on the defensive the entire match as he switched between positional control and attacks. Cohen was a game opponent, as he found a way to escape quickly from many bad spots. Terra was focusing his attacks on Cohen’s legs and looked for the position multiple times. Cohen was eventually forced to tap via an inside heel hook. The victory awarded Terra the 125-pound, Fight to Win no-gi title.

In the co-main event of the evening, long-time veteran Cassio Werneck would not be denied by Paul Nava. The Ricardo Reis black belt controlled the entire match, showing his ability to pass and take Nava’s back. While in this position he was able to secure the win via a choke.

Pati Fontes rebounded after a recent Fight to Win pro defeat as she faced off against another high-level black belt in Kristina Barlaan. Fontes was very aggressive and attacked Barlaan’s legs. Fontes was working for a knee bar when Barlaan was injured and unable to continue the contest. Fontes was awarded the victory via a technical submission as Barlaan was escorted off of the mat.

Tanner Rice, and his brother Matthew, were both victorious and earned their victories via arm bar – displaying their style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

He felt that one! Another sub at @f2wpro 57!
