The UFC has announced five fights for their debut event in Chile on May 19th.
The UFC will host their first event in the country of Chile as the Octagon travels to the Movistar Arena in Santiago on May 19th.
Five matchups were announced for the currently unnumbered Fight Night card on the UFC’s website on Monday.
Former LFA flyweight champion Andrea Lee will make her Octagon debut against Veronica Macedo in a flyweight bout. Lee (8-2) was supposed to make her UFC debut against Kalindra Faria at UFC 216 last year, but was quickly pulled from the fight due a past drug test violation meant she had to undergo six months of USADA testing before fighting.
Another interesting women’s fight takes place in the strawweight division when Alexa Grasso takes on Tatiana Suarez. Grasso (10-1) has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery due to a meniscus injury in October 2017. The Ultimate Fighter Season 23 winner Suarez (5-0) last defeated Viviane Pereira by unanimous decision in November 2017.
The other fights announced for the card include a welterweight matchup between Vicente Luque and Chad Laprise; a bantamweight fight between Diego Rivas vs Guido Cannetti; and a strawweight fight between Poliana Botelho and Syuri Kondo.
No main event has yet been announced for the card, but Santiago Ponzinibbio has called out Donald Cerrone for a fight in Chile following Cowboy’s win at UFC Austin.
