Flyweight prospect Pietro Menga is getting back to work.
Two weeks after getting released by the UFC, Menga (13-0) has signed to fight Brazilian Raymison Bruno Souza de Oliveira (10-1, 1 NC) on Feb. 24, Menga confirmed with MMAFighting.com. The fight will take place under the Celtic Gladiators promotional banner in Manchester, England and will be contested at 125 pounds.
Menga accepted a fight last month against Tim Elliott at UFC on FOX 26 on less than two weeks notice. However, he failed to show up on weigh-in day after not being able to cut to 126 pounds. As a result, the fight was canceled, and Menga was released from the UFC without ever stepping foot in the Octagon.
“Gutted, but this setback won’t stop me from achieving my dream and light up that division,” Menga said after getting released.
According to Menga, he signed a one-fight deal with Celtic Gladiators. His plan is to win in impressive fashion and get right back to the UFC.
