Young bantamweight prospect Ricardo Ramos doesn’t want to sit out for too long. After a split decision win over Kyung Ho Kang, at UFC 227, the 23-year-old already set his sights on his next challenge: Sean O’Malley.
Furthermore, as Ramos explained to Combate, he wishes to return sooner rather than later, at UFC 230 or at UFC Fight Night 140, both November cards.
“I hope I get added to the rankings, but I’m happy and I hope for the best,” Ramos said. “I said it before, I hope I can fight Sean O’Malley, I think fans will enjoy that fight. You better believe it I’m taking that win back to Brazil. I like his style, he’s young, just like me. He’s driven, too. So two young prospects like us need to collide, so we can tell who’s better. That’s why I want that fight, to challenge myself.”
“I hope I can return in November. I would really like to fight in New York, which is a city I love. There’s also a November card in Argentina, that’s a good date, let’s see what the UFC decides.”
Ricardo Ramos (12-1) is currently on a three-fight winning streak inside the Octagon. Before defeating Kang, the Brazilian already held wins over the likes of Aiemann Zahabi and Michinori Tanaka. His sole loss came in 2015, when he was submitted by Manny Vazquez at Legacy FC 51.
O’Malley (10-0) has defeated Terrion Ware and Andre Soukhamthath in his two UFC appearances. He was signed to a UFC contract off of his spectacular KO of Alfred Khashakyan on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
