Former BAMMA CEO Dave Green has been announced as Head of Bellator Europe, following months of speculation regarding the future of BAMMA.
Green had served as CEO for BAMMA up until the announcement of his new position with Bellator. BAMMA lost the vast majority of its roster to Bellator through the promotion’s signing of nearly 40 fighters across the U.K., Ireland and Western Europe and has not put on an event since June 28.
BAMMA had provisionally booked four dates at the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland, the first was due to take place in December. There has been no official announcement for the Irish shows yet, leading many to speculate as to whether they will take place.
Noted in the press release, Green oversaw BAMMA’s TV rights negotiations and partnerships for the organization’s events.
Green is not the only member of BAMMA’s backroom that has recently joined the Bellator ranks. As well as the numerous BAMMA fighters who have put pen to paper, former BAMMA matchmaker, Jude Samuel, also joined Bellator recently as the lead of the promotion’s European talent relations and matchmaking. It is understood that Samuel has been a key figure in relation to Bellator acquiring European talent.
Although it has yet to be announced yet, sources suggest that Bellator plan on launching its European agenda with a December event in Dublin.
“We are pleased to welcome David to the Bellator team,” said Coker on the arrival of Green to Bellator. “His experience and knowledge of the U.K. market makes him a great addition to the organization. We look forward to him being an integral part of Bellator’s growth as we continue to expand our footprint within the region.”
