Former Bellator champion Joe Warren suspended 90 days for marijuana

Joe Warren has joined Nick Diaz on the list of weed offenders in MMA.
The former Bellator champion tested positive for marijuana following his win over L.C. Davis at Bellator 143 in Hidalgo, Texas, according to a report by Jason Floyd of The MMA Report. Texas Combative Sports Program director Greg Alvarez told MMA Fighting on Friday night that Warren will be suspended 90 days.
According to documents Floyd obtained through a public-records request, Warren had 53 ng/ml of marijuana metabolites in his system. The threshold in Texas is 50 ng/ml. The Nevada Athletic Commission upped its threshold in recent years to 150 ng/ml. Diaz was suspended five years for his third defense in Nevada last month.
When UFC fighter Jessica Eye popped for pot in Texas two years, she received a probationary suspension of one year. Eye was allowed to compete four months later against Alexis Davis at UFC 170 in February 2014.
Warren (13-4) was going to step into a bantamweight title rematch with Marcos Galvao next week at Bellator 144, according to a report by MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz.
