Former ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ winner Eddie Gordon to be released from UFC

Eddie Gordon announced his impending release from the UFC on Friday afternoon via social media.

The Team Serra-Longo product won Season 19 of the UFC’s reality show The Ultimate Fighter at middleweight but never found his groove inside the Octagon following the show’s conclusion.

After knocking out Dhiego Lima to capture the show’s title, Gordon posted an 0-3 record, losing once via knockout, once via decision and once via submission.

His most recent loss, a rear-naked choke defeat to Antonio Carlos, Jr. at UFC Fight Night 70, prompted him to move south to the welterweight division. With the news of his UFC release, however, fans will have to wait to see Gordon at 170 inside the eight-sided cage.

While this development is obviously disappointing for Gordon, he seems undeterred, saying, “(The) 170lb division is safe for now(.) I’ll be back no doubt about it looking forward to the next chapter of this best seller #teamtruck” on his personal Facebook page.
