Rashad Evans’ stint at middleweight is over.

Rashad Evans won The Ultimate Fighter season 2 as a heavyweight, captured a UFC title at light heavyweight, but recently found himself competing at middleweight. Having failed to win either of his fights at 185 lbs, Evans is heading back up to the 205-pound division.

“I need time to get my body back to size (and) healthy,” Evans said to MMA Fighting on Friday.

It’s been a rough time for Evans regardless of weight class, as he has lost four straight, and hasn’t had his hand raised in victory since stopping Chael Sonnen in November 2013. He’s also dealt with multiple knee injuries and had two scheduled matchups against Tim Kennedy scrapped due to medical concerns raised by the New York and Ontario commissions.

Evans made his middleweight debut earlier this year at UFC 209, but wound up on the wrong end of a split decision against Daniel Kelly. “Suga” found himself in an identical situation in August, as Sam Alvey got the nod on two of the three judges’ scorecards.

The 38-year-old Evans does not have an opponent booked for his return to the Octagon.
