It’s no secret that former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight king Jose Aldo is chomping at the bit to get his hands on current champion Conor McGregor after losing his 145-pound title to the Irishman back at UFC 194.
McGregor finished Aldo in just 13 seconds.
Since then, the Brazilian legend has thrown shade at McGregor at every moment possible. He believes “Notorious” beat him with a lucky punch. He has lobbied for a rematch and now looks hungrier than ever to get his revenge on the fighter who ended his 10-year unbeaten streak.
“I will get there and run through (Edgar). It doesn’t matter what happens, we will win the fight,” said Aldo during a UFC 198 Q&A in regards to fighting former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 (h/t MMA Fighting). “After that, we will get (McGregor) even if it’s in the streets.”
Wow. So it seems like Aldo will do whatever it takes to get another crack at McGregor. At this point, that arguably makes him as dangerous as he’s ever been. With his eyes set on the top of the Featherweight division, guys like Edgar better watch out.
If Aldo does in fact beat “The Answer” in the rematch to their UFC 156 title fight (Aldo won via unanimous decision), he’ll most likely fight McGregor by the end of 2016.
