Frank Mir ‘absolutely’ interested in Brock Lesnar rubber match

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been suspended from mixed martial arts (MMA) by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) following a pair of positive drug tests before and after UFC 200.

But hey, that’s okay, longtime nemesis and fellow ex-UFC titleholder Frank Mir is also riding the pine after getting popped for poison pee in a losing performance at UFC Fight Night 85 last March in Australia.

Lesnar will be eligible to return this July, so if these two ever wanted to run it back — you know, for old time’s sake — the formerly jacked white boy would have to keep himself on ice until the following April.

“Oh absolutely,” Mir told Submission Radio about a potential rubber match. “But I mean at this point, I just want to go out there and still compete and perform. So fighting Brock, obviously that would be a good money payday cause of his name recognition and the amount of people that would watch and the story behind it. So it makes a lot more sense than some other fights.”

On both sides.

Mir (18-11) submitted Lesnar (5-3, 1 NC) by way of kneebar at UFC 81 in early 2008, in what would be the pro wrestling import’s first appearance inside the Octagon. They would rematch at UFC 100 the following year as part of a record-setting pay-per-view (PPV) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lesnar retired and then came back to try his luck against Mark Hunt at UFC 200, but may finally be gone for good (or not) after this latest setback. In the meantime, Mir has been angling for his UFC release.

I suppose there are worse ways to match these two up, but would a Lesnar vs. Mir rubber match interest you at this point?
