Frankie Edgars head coach Mark Henry reacts to Jose Aldos spy claim

Jose Aldo might claim he had a spy in Frankie Edgar’s training room leading up to UFC 200, but Edgar’s head coach isn’t the least bit concerned.

“I don’t care,” Mark Henry said. “I couldn’t care less. I think we should have been able to adjust anyway.

“I believe I should have adjusted no matter what he did. I should have been smart enough to adjust. Right after the fight was over, there were 20 things I thought about that I should have adjusted.”

On Wednesday, Aldo, who beat Edgar via unanimous decision, told media in Brazil that he had spies in Edgar’s training room who told him what Edgar planned to do in the fight.

“If I kicked, he’d take me down,” Aldo said. “We had a few spies from the other side, people that were training close to him the entire week, and they always came and talked to us. So I had to stop kicking and [using] my left hand, because he would counter on that.

“Of course I had [spies]. Otherwise, why wouldn’t I kick? That’s my instinct,” Aldo said. “So we always have a spy. We send someone to be a part of that training [room] and then they give us information. We get that information and know what they are training.”

Typically, Henry says he religiously re-watches his fighters’ bouts — win or lose — multiple times immediately afterwards, however, he broke his tradition after UFC 200.

“I still haven’t seen it,” Henry said. “I won’t watch it unless Frankie fights him again. I just messed up. I failed Frankie. That is my honest opinion.”
