community news, Georges St Pierre doesn’t sound interested in a fight with Conor McGregor

For a fighter playing the stock market, GSP is surprisingly disinterested in buying McGregor Corp.

Is Georges St-Pierre vs. Conor McGregor a possibility?

ESPN cornered GSP at UFC 216 to ask him just that, and after a lot of humming and hawing and looking uncomfortable, Georges said he guessed it could maybe happen but it wasn’t anything he was actively considering.

“Everything is possible,” St-Pierre said. “But everybody is targeting Conor McGregor because the money, he’s the money fight. But I don’t challenge guys that compete in lower weight class divisions. For me, I don’t do that. I’m going up to fight Michael Bisping now. I’m looking up.”

“He’s an amazing fighter, it would be an amazing honor, but I don’t know. I don’t know what to say. If the fans want it and he wants it maybe it will happen. But right now, I’m focused on Bisping.”

As for the rumors that Georges was supposed to enter the cage and challenge McGregor if Conor had won his original 170 pound battle with Nate Diaz at UFC 196? Not true at all.

“I showed up at the fight because Lorenzo Ferttita asked me to come and show up,” GSP said. “Because my agent was in negotiations with the UFC. He wanted me to be there. I don’t know if he had something else behind his head, I was just there because of the meeting.”

“I didn’t have any plan of doing anything towards Conor McGregor. We don’t compete in the same weight class.”

For someone who claims to be playing the stock market, GSP doesn’t seem like an imaginative trader. The move up to challenge for the UFC middleweight title was interesting, but Georges has already said the UFC included a clause in his contract forcing him to defend it if he wins, and St-Pierre is so oldschool and honorable we don’t doubt he’d do it.

Meanwhile, he’s ignoring Conor McGregor. He’s ignoring the past its best before date but still needs to happen, damnit fight with Anderson Silva. That leaves us wondering what is going on in his head and what big pans he’s got in his head (if any) after his fight with Michael Bisping at UFC 217.
