Ketlen Vieira posted on Instagram about her opponent pulling out due to a recurring hand injury.

Just days after its announcement, the first UFC Belem bout has been scratched. Ketlen Vieira posted on her Instagram page that her opponent, former UFC female featherweight champion, Germaine Randamie, has withdrawn due to a recurring hand injury.

“Guys, I’m here to tell you the fight was cancelled, because my adversary has injured her hand. The strangest thing is that her hand was fine up until two days ago, she even posted a video of her training. Anyway, God knows what he does and I trust his plans for me, because they are better than mine. Thanks everyone for the support, I’ll stay here focusing on training and waiting.”

Germaine de Randamie hasn’t fought since she won the inaugural UFC female featherweight belt with a unanimous decision over Holly Holm, in February. She was stripped of the title shortly afterward for refusing to defend the belt against Cris Cyborg, and her self stated desire to return to Bantamweight.

GDR had been scheduled to face Marion Reneau in September, but was forced out of that bout as well. She underwent surgery shortly afterward to repair her injured hand. She was cleared to return to training back in October, it’s unclear if her removal from the Belem fight is due to lingering problems or a new injury altogether. For her part, De Randamie’s manager told MMA Nytt that they had not actually agreed to the Vieira fight before the bout was reported.

Ketlen Vieira is undefeated, with a three-fight winning streak in the UFC. Most recently she defeated and Sara McMann, via second round submission at UFC 215.

UFC Fight Night 125 is scheduled for February 3, in Belem, Brazil. No other fights have been linked to the event as of yet.
