No. 7-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight contender Bryan Caraway’s recent call-out of former member of the flyweight collective John Lineker has been heeded by “Hands of Stone,” according to a statement the Brazilian slugger released to MMAjunkie.
“I saw that Bryan Caraway wants to fight me. I also heard he’s friends with Francisco Rivera, so I guess he just wants to defend his buddy’s honor and have his back, and I’m absolutely fine with that. I need another name in the division that I can knock out. People keep calling me small for the division, but as I continue to rack up these names, they’ll be calling me a giant at bantamweight.”
The 25-year-old went 6-2 at flyweight before weight-cutting mishaps drew the ire of his employer, which prompted UFC President Dana White to usher him upstairs to the 135-pound division.
Since then, Lineker flattened the heavy-handed veteran Francisco Rivera (highlights) at the UFC 191 pay-per-view (PPV) in September.
