Glover Teixeira went under the knife on Wednesday morning.
The UFC light heavyweight contender, who lost to Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28, revealed on his Instagram page that he had to undergo a right hand surgery.
“I think I’ll be able to train again in six or eight weeks,” Teixeira told MMA Fighting. “The doctor said the recovery is easy. I’ll start physical therapy in two weeks, I believe.”
Teixeira doesn’t have an exact timetable for his next UFC fight.
The Brazilian talent, who earned a shot at the UFC gold in 2014 after winning 20 fights in a row, five of those inside the Octagon, won four out of seven since losing a title fight against Jon Jones.
