Guido Cannetti is looking to continue his comeback at UFC Argentina.
The 38-year-old bantamweight will compete in his home country when he takes on Marlon Vera at the UFC’s upcoming trip to Buenos Aires on Nov. 17.
This will be the third booking of 2018 for Cannetti, who was inactive for over two years after receiving a lengthy suspension from the USADA for a failed drug test in October 2016. In his return to action in January, he was submitted by Kyung Ho Kang inside of a round, but he got back in the win column with a unanimous decision over Diego Rivas at UFC Chile four months later to improve his record to 8-3.
Vera, 25, is 4-2 in his last six fights. In his most recent outing at UFC 227, he defeated Wuliji Buren by second-round TKO.
Several other bouts were made made official on Saturday’s UFC 228 broadcast, including a strawweight bout between Cynthia Calvillo and Poliana Botelho. This will be Calvillo’s fist fight since receiving a nine-month suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission last year for a positive marijuana test.
Calvillo, 31, will also be looking to rebound from her first career loss after starting her pro MMA career 6-0. She dropped a unanimous decision to Carla Esparza last December prior to her NAC suspension. Her UFC wins have come against Joanne Calderwood, Pearl Gonzalez, and Amanda Cooper.
Botelho is 2-0 in the UFC so far after a 33-second TKO win over Syuri Kondo at UFC Chile in May. The 29-year-old Brazilian is 7-1 as a pro.
Also confirmed on Saturday was a main event welterweight bout between Neil Magny and Santiago Ponzinibbio, a light heavyweight bout between Khalil Rountree and Johnny Walker, and a middleweight bout between Jared Cannonier and Alessio Di Chirico.
