It was a lock that UFC would draw its lowest live event television numbers of the year for UFC Fight Night 109 thanks to the holiday weekend and the Indianapolis 500.

The 496,000 viewers for the Fight Night from Stockholm, Sweden, headlined by Alexander Gustafsson’s win over Glover Teixeira shouldn’t have been a surprise nor even considered a negative. The show was on a holiday weekend, with the main card starting at 1 p.m. ET and 10 a.m PT. The peak rating, for the main event, was 665,000 viewers.

ABC’s airing of the Indianapolis 500 race head-to-head averaged 5,457,000 viewers.

The prelims, headlined by Pedro Munhoz vs. Damian Stasiak, which started at 11 a.m. ET, did 353,000 viewers.

A replay of the main show, which aired at midnight, did another 128,000 viewers.

The last time UFC ran a Sunday afternoon show, on May 8, 2016, from Rotterdam, Holland, the show drew 656,000 viewers. That show also aired one hour later and wasn’t against any significant sports competition. It also had a far deeper lineup of stars, with Alistair Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski and Stefan Struve vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva as the top fights, and names like Germaine de Randamie, Nikita Krylov, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Kyoji Horiguchi, Rustam Khabilov and Neil Seery underneath.
