In case you missed it last night: Joe Duffy was pulled from his UFC Fight Night 76 main event match against Dustin Poirier this weekend (Sat., Oct. 24, 2015) at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, because the Irishman suffered a concussion in training.
That’s right, one of his teammates at Tristar in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, clipped him so good in sparring that it forced his removal from the biggest fight of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career to date.
Perhaps said training partner never got the memo that you DON’T HIT WITH CONCUSSIVE POWER IN SPARRING SEVEN DAYS BEFORE A SANCTIONED FIST FIGHT. Somewhere in Brazil, Jose Aldo’s scapegoat is in disbelief that he did not learn from his incredible mistake.
Unsurprisingly — like many countless fans across the globe — Duffy is sad, releasing the following statement via Instagram:
“So sad to announce that I won’t be fighting on Saturday. After a strike to the head in training, I had precautionary medical tests that resulted in me being deemed not fit to fight.
