In the second finish of tonight’s (Sat., March 5, 2016) UFC 196 preliminary undercard lineup, Brazilian Muay Thai master downed Marcelo Guimaraes with a vicious combinations of strikes inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Round one was pretty evenly matched as both talented Brazilians looked to implement their respective gameplans. It proved to be a difficult task for Miranda, however, as the 36-year-old was mostly defending himself up against the fence. Guimaraes clearly wanted to turn the fight into a gritty grappling match, but he was unable to bring it to the mat and was separated by the referee on two separate occasions.
Fortunately for Miranda, he was able to connect with hard elbows while in the clinch in round two, setting up a blistering combination of knees, and slick punches that followed. Guimaraes was knocked out standing before collapsing to the canvas.
Miranda improves his overall record to 12-4, while Guimaraes drops to 9-2-1.
