The heated rivalry between UFC champion Daniel Cormier and former divisional king Jon Jones will boil over into reality once again tonight (Sat., July 29, 2017) at UFC 214 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Jones and Cormier originally met back at UFC 182, with “Bones” defeating “DC” via unanimous decision.
In preparation for the biggest rematch in UFC history, EA Sports has released the latest and greatest main event simulation (shown above). From submission attempts to slamming takedowns, Cormier pressured Jones from the opening bell. But in Round 4, Jones started to shine. After landing a huge head kick that wobbled “DC,” Jones launched a flying left knee from hell. Cormier dropped to the canvas and Jones leaped on top for a few extra insurance shots before being awarded the knockout finish.
While this is just a friendly simulation, Jones may very well have to finish Cormier in this sort of fashion to regain the pound-for-pound label he possessed just a few years ago. Anything short of a spectacular performance could result in more curiosity about Jones’ current state of ability.
