Earlier today, it was revealed that Jon Jones tested for positive for Hydroxy-clomiphene, an anti-estrogenic agent, and Letrozole metabolite, an aromatase inhibitor, during an out-of-competition drug test administered by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) prior to his UFC 200 title fight against Daniel Cormier, according to MMA Fighting.
As Chael Sonnen — who spilled the beans before NSAC did — clarified, getting popped for estrogen blockers is a sign of someone coming off a steroid cycle.
So when fans started questioning Jones’ integrity on Twitter once test results were revealed, “Bones” went on the defensive, saying he never took steroids and that he was simply a victim of his own ignorance.
On playing the victim card:
Not trying 2 come across as a victim if anything I’m a victim of my own ignorance & yes this could’ve been prevented.
If he realized estrogen blockers cover steroid use:
You’re absolutely right man, I learned that myself over the last week. But it doesn’t mean you actually took steroids
On proving his innocence:
Don’t write me off just yet, I know in my heart that I’m not a cheater. I trust in the system to help me prove it
On testing the supplements he took:
I’ll disclose to the public when I find out, already sent products to a lab. I have nothing to hide
On Nate Diaz’s comments that everyone in UFC is on steroids:
He was just speaking carelessly, obviously that’s not true
On how many comebacks he intends to have:
As many as it takes for me to get it right, as many as I’m willing to fight for
When asked if he felt Brock Lesnar — who was flagged by USADA post-UFC 200 — was on steroids or if he was simply in the same boat he finds himself in, “Bones” had this to say:
