Cult favorite Ilir Latifi is back.
The Swedish light heavyweight will take on Sean O’Connell at UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw vs. Cruz on Jan. 17 in Boston, UFC Europe reported Thursday on Twitter.
Latifi (10-4, 1 NC) is coming off a 56-second knockout of Hans Stringer in July. Overall, he has won three of four after a UFC debut loss to Gegard Mousasi in April 2013. This will be the 32-year-old’s first UFC fight in the United States.
O’Connell (17-6) is also, coincidentally, coming off a 56-second knockout in his last fight. “The Real OC” starched Anthony Perosh in May and has won two straight by TKO. O’Connell, a 32-year-old who doubles as a sports radio host in Salt Lake City, has won eight of his last 10 fights.
UFC Fight Night 81 is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion T.J. Dillashaw and former champ Dominick Cruz. In the co-main event, former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis takes on Eddie Alvarez.
