It didn’t take long for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to re-book its ill-fated “Dublin” main event.

Dustin Poirier and Joseph Duffy will collide at UFC 195, which takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Jan. 2, 2016.

Poirier and Duffy were expected to headline UFC Fight Night 76 this past weekend (Sat., Oct. 24, 2015); however, a last-minute injury to the Irishman in training (more details here) forced the promotion to scratch the main event altogether.

Duffy — who revealed he was “gutted” about the withdrawal — issued a formal apology to UFC, fans, his family and, of course, Poirier. Meanwhile, “Diamond” was ridiculed by some for not accepting an eleventh-hour match against Norman Parke, who Poirier branded as “boring” and “not a tough fight.”

In the end, it appears that everything will eventually work out … except for the ticket-buying “dummies” who were unhappy about watching Louis Smolka submit Paddy Holohan in the re-worked “Dublin” main event.

UFC 195 will feature a Welterweight title bout between reigning champion Robbie Lawler and former interim titleholder Carlos Condit. In the Heavyweight co-headliner, Stipe Miocic continues his march toward the 265-pound strap against ex-division ….View original article
