The UFC and Invicta might have a two-night women’s MMA extravaganza on deck.
Invicta FC has applied with the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) to run a show Nov. 30 at Park Theater in Las Vegas, per the NAC meeting agenda released Thursday. That is one night before the TUF 26 Finale in the same venue.
Invicta has already announced that a women’s flyweight title fight between champion Jennifer Maia and challenger Agnieszka Niedzwiedz would be the main event for Invicta FC 26, though the date and location has not officially been announced.
That would mean there would be two women’s flyweight title fights in a two-day span in Vegas. The UFC will crown its first-ever women’s 125-pound champion at the TUF 26 Finale. The reality series, featuring the title tournament, is currently running right now on FS1 and will conclude with the championship fight Dec. 1 at the Finale.
Invicta’s cards air live on UFC Fight Pass and the promotion has a strong business relationship with the UFC. Barb Honchak, the former Invicta women’s flyweight champion, is one of the odds-on favorites to reach the finals of the UFC title tourney.
The NAC will decide on that and everything else on its agenda Tuesday at its monthly meeting.
