Jake Ellenberger made the most of what could have been his final opportunity to compete inside the Octagon last weekend (Sat., July 30, 2016) in Atlanta, Georgia, knocking out Matt Brown in the very first round.

After the fight, UFC president Dana White revealed that had it not been for Jake asking for one more shot, he would have been cut from the promotion long ago.
A statement “The Juggernaut” confirmed to MMA Junkie:
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have a good relationship with (UFC President) Dana (White). When I met with him, I just wanted to talk to him, and of course, he was receptive to that. He respectfully told me what he and the team and Joe Silva were thinking, and it wasn’t sitting well with me with how things are going. (I asked), ‘Can you give me a shot?’ I, of course, didn’t care who it was; I just wanted to get another opportunity. And fortunately they gave me another opportunity, and here we are.”
With newfound fighting life, Jake will now look to rack up back-to-back wins for the first time since 2013. One potential foe that was brought to his attention was Jorge Masvidal, who was also victorious against Ross Pearson in “Hotlanta.”
“He’s tough. He’s got some skills for sure. I liked his fight, too. It was a fun fight to watch, we watched it in the back. I’m in. No problem.”
“Gambred,” though expressed his own desire to face the aforementioned Brown in order to collect an easy payday. But given that Brown got knocked out, it seems the more logical matchup would be one against Ellenberger.
