Jeff Mayweather responds to Dana White, says McGregor cant complain about 80/20 split

Floyd Mayweather’s uncle responds to Dana White’s claim that the 80/20 split between McGregor and the UFC is ‘bullsh-t’.

UFC president Dana White was furious when Floyd Mayweather’s uncle, Jeff Mayweather, claimed that the UFC wanted 80 percent of Conor McGregor’s purse for a boxing showdown against Mayweather Jr.

“What I would like to clarify is all the bulls—t about the 80 f—king 20 split,” White said at UFC 210’s post-fight press conference. “Jeff Mayweather? Come on, Jeff. Me and Jeff go way back. Jeff, are you spokesman now for f—king team Mayweather?”

Jeff Mayweather was quick to respond, and thinks White may have misinterpreted what he was saying.

I met Dana White when he first came to Vegas, and we did a lot of stuff together,” he said, per Tom Taylor of BJPenn.com. “He used to do boxing classes, boxing aerobics, and everything he did I was a part of it. So basically we’re very close.”

I’m not speaking for Floyd,” he continued. “The 80-20 split is not for Floyd. What Floyd’s getting is guaranteed. What Conor is getting – I’m talking about the split with the UFC and Conor McGregor. That’s the split I’m talking about. Not no 80-20 with Floyd and Conor. Whatever Floyd’s asking for, he’s going to get.”

A boxing mega-fight between McGregor and Mayweather picked up steam when the Irishman TKO’d Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title at UFC 205. Now, both parties are reportedly close to signing a deal, with ‘The Notorious’ telling reporters last month that the bout is ‘very close’ to being announced.

When asked about whether the UFC deserve to take 80 percent of McGregor’s earnings, Mayweather said that the SBG Ireland product would have nothing to complain about, as he would be making the most money of his career.

“If 80/20 is going to give you more money than you ever made, you really can’t complain about it,” Jeff Mayweather said. “Because, at the end of the day, that’s what it’s about — it’s about making more money than you ever have. With the 80/20 split, he’s (McGregor) still gonna make more money than he ever did.”

While nothing has been announced, McGregor vs. Mayweather is reportedly targeted for September 14, with White expected to meet with McGregor after the birth of his baby to ‘hammer out some of the finer details’.
