Jessica Andrade talks about her preparations for her upcoming title fight against champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Undefeated since her drop to the strawweight division, Jessica Andrade earned herself a title shot after putting together an impressive three-fight winning streak. Now, as she prepares to take on champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Andrade talks about how she will handle the champion, a puzzle no other challenger was able to solve yet.
“People who say I’m not ready don’t know me.” Andrade told Sportv. “I know what I can do. This training camp has been one of the best ones. What most people don’t know is that we prepare with our minds. That’s how I focus better for a fight. I picture the fight beforehand, scoring a knockout, everything.”
As for the fight, Andrade feels she needs to finish Jedrzejczyk before the third round, which is when she considers herself stronger.
“Everyone who watches my fights can see that when the third round ends, I’m still in the fight. Joanna warms up a while before the fight, so she starts as if she’s in the second round already. My strategy is to end the fight before the third round.”
Joanna Jedrzejczyk is expected to take on Jessica Andrade at UFC 211, in Dallas, Texas, on May 13. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger, Junior dos Santos.
