Garry Tonon, who scored back-to-back finishes in his first two MMA bouts earlier this year, is set to take on Sung Jong Lee at ONE Championship’s upcoming event in Singapore on Nov. 9, the promotion announced.
Tonon (2-0), a multiple time no-gi champion, stopped Richard Corminal with punches in his MMA debut in March at lightweight. For months later, Tonon scored his first submission victory under MMA rules with a rear-naked choke against Rahul Raju. Lee (4-2) looks to rebound from a loss to Amir Khan in his promotional debut.
Headlined by previously announced champion vs. champion bouts in Xiong Jing Nan vs. Angela Lee and Bibiano Fernandes vs. Kevin Belingon, ONE: Heart of the Lion takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Tonon and Fernandes are not the only jiu-jitsu champions slated to compete on Nov. 9, though. IBJJF Hall of Famer and eight-time world champion Michelle Nicolini will look to improve to 6-1 in MMA against former ONE title challenger Tiffany Teo (7-1).
In the co-main event, kickboxing superstar Giorgio Petrosyan takes on Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy in a kickboxing match.
The other match-ups officially announced for the card are Alex Silva vs. Pongsiri Mitsatit, Adrian Pang vs. Kota Shimoishi, Muhammad Aiman vs. Shuya Kamikubo, Shuya Kamikubo vs. Muhammad Aiman, Hisyam Samsudin vs. Xie Bin and Abro Fernandes vs. Chan Rothana.
