It’s not often that the person that lost the first fight badly is the favorite in the rematch, but that is the case with Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas.
Despite getting stopped early in their first fight, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is the betting favorite for her rematch with Rose Namajunas at UFC 223. The two ladies will tangle in the co-main event of the April 7th event in Brooklyn and obviously as soon as the bout was announced, linemakers jumped on it. In a bit of a surprise though, the lady that made the former strawweight queen quit isn’t getting a lot of respect from betting sites so far (via BestFightOdds):
If you can’t see that, the best price on Joanna right now is -225, but she’s as high as -260 on one book. Namajunas’ best price right now is +192, and is +180 on two other sites.
Jedrzejczyk (14-1, 8-1 UFC) had successfully defended her UFC women’s strawweight title five times before running into Namajunas (7-3, 5-2 UFC) at UFC 217 in November. After catching her with a huge left hook, Namajunas opened fire on the ground until Joanna tapped to strikes – the first loss of her career.
UFC 223 will be headlined by a bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed (?) lightweight title.
