Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger Faces Tough Task in Earning RFA Championship

Fights falling through are nothing new in MMA. Over the years, a myriad of reasons for a fighter dropping out of a bout have come and gone. But recently, RFA 115-pound fighter Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger encountered a situation that was new to her.
Just a couple weeks before her scheduled August RFA bout, Jones-Lybarger’s opponent, Kimberly Novaes, was forced out of the fight because of pregnancy.
“That’s the first time that happened,” Jones-Lybarger told MMAWeekly.com. “Kimberly’s healthy and the baby’s healthy, so that’s the good.
“I was a little bummed because I was looking forward to travelling and fighting. She reached out to me and was very apologetic and sweet about it.”
Jones-Lybarger was able to get on the upcoming RFA 31 show, so she’s been able to transition from one camp to the other with a sense of humor.
“I’ve been in camp for 13 weeks now,” she said. “When we got the news about Kimberly being pregnant, I took a day off and then was right back in there the next day.
“I’m sick and tired of hitting the same teammates over and over.”
