Much has been made about the gambling habits of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, who once punished a Las Vegas casino (by doing this) for reducing his line of credit.
But White — the undisputed champion of “Sin City” blackjack — may be the victim of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease afflicting people who suffered from repeated head trauma.
That’s according to UFC color commentator Joe Rogan.
“Dana’s been hit in the head a lot,” Rogan said recently on his official podcast. “Notoriously impulsive, notoriously susceptible to addiction, whether it’s gambling addiction, alcohol addiction, it’s a big part of CTE. That’s brain damage, from getting hit in the head. He did a lot of boxing when he was young, had his dome rattled.”
White acting crazy and impulsive? No way!
There was a time when White was still active in the “sweet science” and even agreed to a boxing match with former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. That bout never came to fruition but that hasn’t kept him from throwing hands.
No matter the cost.
