Jon Jones wont entertain a grappling douchebag like Dillon Danis

Jon Jones made a successful debut in his upstart grappling career, submitting mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Dan Henderson in the main event of Submission Underground 2, forcing “Hendo” to tap in just under six minutes via arm-triangle choke last month in Portland, Oregon.

Soon thereafter, “Bones” took to Twitter to ask “who’s tapping next,” with fans throwing suggestions as to who’d they like to see the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion face in the grappling world.

The popular vote was Dillon Danis, a jiu-jitsu black belt with multiple world championships to his credit who also serves as training partner for Conor McGregor. While confident he can “play” with “Bones,” Danis channeled his inner-McGregor and told Jon to beg him if he wanted a future showdown.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Jones didn’t think much of Dillon’s comment, calling the submission wizard a douchebag who isn’t worth his time.

“He’s a lot smaller than me, so already going into that grappling match there is not much to gain. I just beat Henderson and I was a lot bigger than him. I think right now people would like to see me go up against somebody that is bigger than me just to have a different challenge. But him telling me to beg him was just kind of a douchy thing to do. I felt like I was already in a situation where I had not much to gain, not many people know who he is. I just felt he was kind of being a douchebag and I’m not even going to entertain you.”

And that’s that.

Jones is currently riding the pine after he was suspended one year for failing a pre-fight drug test prior to his scheduled rematch against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 and is expected to return to the Octagon in the summer of 2017.

In the meantime, if another grappling match presents itself, Jones seems to be more than game, as long as it’s against a household name. As far as Danis goes, he is set to compete at Submission Underground 3 against AJ Agazarm.
