Jorge Masvidal slams Michael ‘Bitchping,’ other UFC ‘cowards’ for dodging tough fights

Jorge Masvidal has long carried with him a “take on all comers” attitude on his rise to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) stardom. And though he admits he is no longer interested in facing up-and-comers or The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) champions, “Gamebred” is willing to fight the toughest, highest-ranked fighter available at the drop of a hat.

The same, unfortunately, can’t be said about many other fighters on UFC’s roster, which is disappointing to Masvidal.

“I’m being the voice for the people that are frustrated with a lot of these cowards in this sport. I don’t have to spell it out for you, people blatantly dodging other people. That is coward shit. That is #HOSTATUS — it’s mind blowing,” said Masvidal during a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour.”

Masvidal uses the early UFC days as reference in which fighters had no choice but to fight the best guy next … sometimes more than once a night.

“Back in the day, we had to fight three or four times in one night without dodging nobody,” he said. “That’s what the sport was built on and a lot of the guys that came in after that had that similar mindset. Just compete, fight the best and keep winning. Now it’s just fight the guy that you can beat or this and that.

“It’s weird,” Masvidal continued. “Up-and-coming in your career, yes, you may have to dodge someone because maybe your wrestling isn’t good yet, get it on point and then come back to them, or whatever, you know? When you are up-and-coming. But, once you’re already at the top of your game, man, that’s it there is no dodging fighters. What’s wrong with you? That’s the biggest act of cowardness, you know? Faking injuries.”

When asked if he was referring to Michal Bisping’s reluctance to defend his Middleweight title against No. 1 contender Yoel Romero — a teammate of Masvidal’s — “Gamebred” didn’t bite his tongue.

“Bitchbing, yeah. That’s who I’m talking to. But, it’s just not him there is a bunch of dudes, but he is leading the front. He’s the front man. But, I don’t even want to talk about him on your show because I’m not going to make that dude famous. We’re not going to make that dude famous. Let him go out there, win some fights and let him generate his own name. I wasn’t even going to say that bitch’s name,” he added.

Masvidal also pointed to Neil Magny’s refusal to fight him after he called him out, saying that he wants the fight on a “personal level” after the No. 6-ranked Welterweight said “dumb shit” about not wanting to scrap.

As for Bisping, there is no timetable for his return, but by the time he gears up to come back, there will be no ducking “Soldier of God” and/or Robert Whittaker.
