A welterweight bout pitting Jorge Masvidal and Kelvin Gastelum, and a lightweight fight between Marcin Held and Diego Sanchez have been added to The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 Finale in Mexico. The news was announced on Wednesday by UFC Network, and was also confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Masvidal returned to the welterweight division on July 2015. Since then, the 31-year-old fighter has gone 2-2 with two split decision loses to Lorenz Larkin and Ben Henderson. Masvidal last fought at UFC 201 in July, picking up a decision win over Ross Pearson.
Meanwhile, his opponent, Gastelum is ranked fifth in the welterweight division, and like Masvidal, is also 2-2 in his past four outings. Gastelum last competed at UFC 200 in July, outpointing former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.
Making his promotional debut, Held is looking to shine against UFC veteran Diego Sanchez. The 24-year-old Polish fighter is coming off a unanimous decision win over Dave Jansen at Bellator 155 this past May. Prior to that, Held lost a decision to now UFC lightweight Will Brooks for the lightweight title at Bellator 145. That loss snapped a five-fight wining streak for the Polish fighter.
Facing Held, Sanchez is looking to get back on the winning track after suffering a technical knockout loss to Joe Lauzon at UFC 200. ‘The Nightmare’ is currently 2-4 in his past six trips to the Octagon.
The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 Finale is to take place on Nov. 5 at the Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico. Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson.
