Joseph Duffy — the last man to defeat Conor McGregor — is the polar opposite of “Notorious.”
Unlike McGregor, Duffy is quiet, reserved and prefers to keep to himself and his training, which is the reason “Irish Joe” doesn’t offer rebuttals when his countryman takes aim at him in the media, questioning his commitment to his nationality.
But, when asked to give his prediction on a rematch between the two men, Duffy says it will be another quick victory for him, just like he 38-second submission victory he scored over his McGregor five years ago.
His words on “The MMA Hour” (via Bloody Elbow):
“Nothing Conor says can get under my skin. If it was somebody who I cared about, like my family, saying this, yeah maybe. But, Conor’s opinion doesn’t matter to me. He can say what he wants and it doesn’t change the way I would fight him. It doesn’t change the fact that I think I would still beat him. None of that stuff changes. None of that will ever get under my skin.”
