With the addition of a UFC lifer, the UFC Austin lineup now sits at a baker’s dozen.
Josh Burkman will compete in his 46th professional bout when he meets Alex Morono in a welterweight matchup on the Fight Pass prelims of UFC Fight Night 126 on Feb. 18. The bout was recently added to the official event page.
“The People’s Warrior” is currently on a career-worst four-fight losing streak. Last July at UFC 214, he was knocked out in just over three minutes by Drew Dober. That was Burkman’s sixth loss in his last seven appearances. The 37-year-old returns to the 170-pound division after taking his last two fights at lightweight.
Burkman is 28-16 with one no-contest in his 15-year career and 6-11 in two stints with the UFC.
Also looking to get back on track is Morono, a 25-year-old fighting out of Houston. Morono is winless in his last two outings, a split decision loss to Keita Nakamura and a no-contest vs. Niko Price (originally a second-round KO win for Price that was later overturned when Price tested positive for marijuana). Prior to the Price fight, Morono had won seven consecutive bouts including his first two UFC appearances against Kyle Noke and James Moontasri.
UFC Austin takes place at the Frank Erwin Center and will be headlined by a welterweight contest between Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros.
