Before Wladimir Klitschko fights Anthony Joshua on Saturday, April 29th, check out Wlad’s top highlights from his decorated career.
Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) is seeking to regain his status as world heavyweight champion boxer, as he takes on undefeated Anthony Joshua (18-0, 18 KOs) for Joshua’s IBF and the vacant WBA (and less importantly, IBO) titles. Klitschko is coming off a decision loss to Tyson Fury in November 2015, his first defeat since a stunning knockout against Lamon Brewster over a decade ago. After that, he ruled the heavyweight division and was the consensus #1. He enters this Saturday’s contest as the betting underdog against the 2012 Olympic gold medalist, but you most certainly can’t count him out of this matchup.
HBO has released a video showcasing the best of “Dr. Steelhammer,” and you can watch it at the top of the page. I’m going to defend Klitschko a bit, as he has developed a (quite deserved) reputation for being in some unexciting fights. He has 53 KO wins and HBO has had the rights to plenty of them. This three-minute clip really doesn’t do him justice. I can’t even believe they plucked any footage from the Fury fight to show “the best of” Wladimir. You can tell that their budget reduction has impacted their ability to produce compilation vids, which used to be more than twice as long. Alas, there are some good finishes here for your viewing pleasure.
Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko airs live from London’s Wembley Stadium on Showtime at 4:15 PM ET/1:15 PM PT, with HBO broadcasting the same-day replay at 11 PM ET/PT.
