Stipe Miocic knocked out Fabricio Werdum with a single punch this past weekend (Sat., May 14, 2016) in the main event of UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil (replay here), earning him the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight strap.
How did it happen?
According to Junior dos Santos — a man who holds wins over both Werdum and Stipe — “Vai Cavalo,” although improved, is not a true striker. And trying to go toe-to-toe against a stand-up specialist like Miocic wasn’t the smartest thing to do.

But he did well against a very tough guy in Arlovski, and, actually Overeem is coming off good moments because he beat me, Arlovski and he is doing very well. But I just don’t think, like I said, I give the advantage to Miocic, but it is MMA and you never know. For sure Overeem has a lot of chances to beat him, but it is going to be hard for him.”
Of course, the fact the “JDS” and “The Reem” have a rough history may have swayed ….View full article
