Justin Gaethje was ecstatic over Rose Namajunas’ win over Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217.
UFC 217 was a night to remember.
Not only did welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre return to top form with a submission over Michael Bisping to win the middleweight title, finishing his first fight in over eight years, but Rose Namajunas became the first woman to stop Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the Octagon, knocking out the Pole in the first round.
Namajunas, 25, entered New York’s Madison Square Garden as the considerable underdog, but left the arena as the newly-crowned women’s strawweight champion.
‘Thug’ dropped Joanna, who was considered the most dominant female champ in the sport, early on and followed up with another crushing left hook later in the round, forcing Jedrzejczyk to tap to strikes on the ground.
One man who just couldn’t contain his emotions after Namajunas’ stunning upset win at UFC 217 was Justin Gaethje, who called Rose his ‘hero’ on social media. Check out the video below:

Gaethje, who coached opposite Eddie Alvarez on The Ultimate Fighter 26, will collide with the former lightweight champ at UFC 218 on Dec. 2.
Namajunas, who only made her pro MMA debut in 2013, earned the first knockout of her career and will storm into the pound-for-pound rankings with her win over Jedrzejczyk.
