Former WSOF lightweight champion Justin Gaethje will make his UFC debut in a five-round main event against Michael Johnson.
Lightweight veteran Michael Johnson will welcome former World Series of Fighting champion, Justin Gaethje to the UFC, as it was reported in Friday’s “Summer Kickoff” press conference that the pair will headline the TUF 25 Finale card, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
Michael Johnson (17-11) has gone 1-3 in his last four bouts, losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Nate Diaz and Beneil Dariush. His sole win during the stint came via 95-second KO when he beat Dustin Poirier in the UFC Hidalgo main event last September. The Nurmagomedov fight soon followed, and he lost by third-round submission in their UFC 205 encounter.
Undefeated in his career, Justin Gaethje (17-0) makes his long-awaited UFC debut after ten fights and five successful title defenses at World Series of Fighting. During that time, he defeated notable names such as Melvin Guillard, Brian Foster, Nick Newell, Luis Palomino (2x), and Gesias Cavalcante. An incredible fourteen of his seventeen wins have come by way of KO or TKO.
The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, July 7th. In the TUF final, the winner of the “Redemption” season will earn a $250,000 grand prize.
