community news, Kevin Baby Slice Ferguson withdraws from Bellator 160

Bellator 160: “Henderson vs. Pitbull” goes down Aug. 26, 2016 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. In a No. 1 contender’s match at lightweight, former UFC champion Benson Henderson and former Bellator champion Patricio Freire both try to earn a shot at Michael Chandler’s title.

Injuries have reshaped much of the rest of this card. Lena Ovchynnikova had to withdraw from a fight against Jamielene Nievara, which moved Bubba Jenkins vs. Georgi Karakhanyan to the Spike TV broadcast. Henry Corrales also had to pull out leaving A.J. McKee to face late replacement Cody Walker.

Now the much anticipated debut of “Baby Slice” Kevin Ferguson Jr. on the Bellator 160 prelims is off too. In a statement to MMA Fighting, Ferguson says a MCL injury will keep him from competing but NOT from being there.

“I won’t need any surgery though, and that’s bad news for every single mother f—-r on the roster. All of the fan support in the lead up to this fight has been overwhelming & I can’t wait to add a new chapter to the Ferguson/Slice fighting rep. I’ll still be at the event holding it down for my teammates AJ McKee and Joey Davis. Best believe I’ll be knocking heads out sooner than later.”
