In one of the more under-the-radar main event matchups of 2016, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contenders John Lineker and John Dodson will tie the knot in combat matrimony later tonight (Sat., Oct. 1, 2016) at UFC Fight Night 96 from inside the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. The hard-hitting Brazilian will look to extend his bantamweight win streak to four, while Dodson has plans to capture his second-straight victory since moving up from 125 pounds following a title loss to Demetrious Johnson back at UFC 191.
Lineker vs. Dodson represents one of the best power vs. speed matchups available at the bantamweight level. There are few fighters capable of withstanding the bewildering blows that Lineker dishes out and even fewer fighters that are slick enough to catch Dodson off guard when his feet finally stop moving. It’s an intricate matchup to say the least, and one that could favor either fighter at any point of the fight.

Not only did he seriously hurt Francisco Rivera at UFC 191 before submitting him, but he absolutely clobbered Michael McDonald to the tune of a first-round knockout finish at UFC Fight Night 91.
