UFC 209 is on March 4th but Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson were ready to scrap on today’s media conference call.
The media conference call for UFC 209 on March 4th just went down today, but you might as well have renamed it the Tony and Khabib show since they spent the majority of the 35 minute call yelling at each other and threatening to break various body parts. Things got so heated several times that the call moderator had to step in and move things forward to let Tyron Woodley get a word in edgewise.
It just goes to show you how much Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov dislike each other. With this booking being the third attempt to get the two into the cage together (the previous two being derailed by an injury to each fighter), there’s definitely a lot of pent up anger waiting to be unleashed at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas next weekend.
“I’m very exciting about this fight because this is what I want all my life,” Khabib said during the conference call. “March 4, my dream is come true. I have very big fight on very big UFC fight card and I’m very exciting about this. I just finished my last hard sparring and am healthy, no injures or nothing. I am in best shape of all time my career. Now make weight and March 4 I’m going to make history. I’m going to break this guy. He thinks he’s tough but when cage close and its me and him alone inside the cage, I’m going to break this guy.”
“You ain’t gonna break s**t,” Ferguson responded.
“All the time whe he fight with wrestling guys, he has problems,” Nurmagomedov continued. “But he never fight with a wrestling guy like I have power.”
“You try to take me down,” Ferguson warned. “You’re going to find out exactly how sharp my elbows are!”
“Okay, okay. We’ll wait for one week,” Khabib said with a laugh. “One week, we’ll see who is who. Inside the cage, I’m gonna broke you. We’ll see what happens. What I want, I want to break your face. I want to break your heart. You’ll have to kiss my fist. I bring you here … You know why you ask too much money? Because you know this is last fight in UFC, this fight. We’ll see March 4th, I’m going to break your career and break your face.”
“You didn’t make s**t, dude,” Tony said. “You’re just the next person in line for me, man. So you can either step aside and f**king miss this ass beating, or you can step inside that Octagon come UFC 209 at the T-Mobile Arena, and you’re gonna get your ass killed by my style. You’re gonna really find out what El Cucuy is … I’m a Baba Yaga, bro.”
“El Cucuy? You’re El McDonald!” Nurmagomedov replied. “All my life you’re El McDonald, old McDonald. You’re not El Cucuy, you understand? You have to shut up. Next week I am going to finish your career!”
Fights between the #1 and #2 contenders in a division is what the sport is all about. With both fighters determined to destroy the other, we can’t wait for the fireworks to explode in the Octagon. UFC 209 goes down March 4th in Las Vegas. For more news on the card, click here.
