Rising bantamweight prospect Matthew Lopez took full advantage of his matchup with veteran Johnny Eduardo earlier tonight (Sat., June 3, 2017) at UFC 212 from inside the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lopez struggled early to find his range on the feet as Eduardo clipped him a few times, but once the action hit the canvas Lopez took control. From top position, he unloaded countless elbows and hammerfists on Eduardo as the Brazilian curled up and tried to protect himself. The shots rained heavy as Lopez forced referee Mario Yamasaki to jump in for the first-round TKO stoppage.

With this win, Lopez claims his second-straight Octagon victory and his first UFC finish. Lopez is a super talented 135-pound fighter who is capable of scrapping with most fighters in the division, but will have to evolve as a striker before he makes a run at the top 15.
